Dance Masters Studios was established in 1987, and operates under the original owner and manager, Rock Foster. Through hard work and dedication to its students, Dance Masters has become the Premier Dance Studio in Richmond and the Tri-Cities area  (Chester, Colonial Heights, Petersburg) of  Virginia. ​

​Dance Masters is dedicated to promoting social and competitive Ballroom dancing throughout the Central Virginia area. We believe you'll find the atmosphere to be inviting and friendly, centered on the idea that everyone can learn to dance given patience and professional instruction.

​Our trained Dance Instructors are dedicated to keeping their skills current by attending dance training sessions using the DVIDA syllabus, a widely-used dance curriculum among independent Ballroom Dance Schools. ​​You will begin your dance instruction with a teacher known as a "Specialist" as he/she specializes in teaching our new students. As you advance in your dance program, you may occasionally have exchange lessons with one or more of our other instructors.

​Dance Masters Dance Programs are designed to make you the best dancer you can be! We offer a variety of dance classes including but not limited to Ballroom, Swing, Latin, Country and Wedding Dance. See our monthly Calendar for the class schedule. It is our belief that the best way to learn to dance is through Private Instruction combined with Group Classes and Practice Parties.

OUR DANCE PROGRAMS
Dance Masters specializes in the “Medalist” method of teaching. Your dance instruction begins with the Beginning Bronze Dance Program and progresses to Basic Bronze and then on to the Associate and Full Bronze Dance Programs. Students desiring advanced dance education will follow up their full Bronze program with the Silver and then Gold programs. Dance Masters uses the "3-way‟ method of teaching by incorporating Private dance instruction, Group classes and Dance Practice sessions to ensure that our students become the best dancers possible.

PRIVATE INSTRUCTION
Your private dance instruction begins with one of our highly trained teachers. Your dance instructor will spend time helping you to improve your dancing and will keep a record of everything you learn. You can be confident that you will receive efficient, personalized instruction that is necessary to accomplish your dancing goals. You will learn the technique, style and expression of each dance and how to combine the steps to put it all together. Private instruction is an important element in our 3-way method of teaching

 

GROUP CLASSES
Group classes are the second element in our 3-way method of teaching and are also an important component.  During group sessions you will meet and practice your dancing with other students.  Your instructor will guide you to the correct class for your level of dancing.  In your group dance sessions you will learn a variety of dances steps and patterns as well as timing and how to lead & follow.

PRACTICE SESSIONS, CLUBS and PARTIES
Practice Dance Sessions are held weekly and is the third element in our method of teaching. At our Dance sessions and Parties you will learn how to recognize the music for each dance, how to navigate a crowded floor, as well as dance with a variety of partners. Check the studio calendar or ask your instructor which practice session is best for you. As you become more proficient in your dancing, you may want to join the Century Club, a special VIP
club that entitles its members to exclusive outings, events, etc.

MEDALIST PROGRAMS
Dance Masters Dance Studios offers dance programs to suit the individual needs of our students:
The BASIC BRONZE Program is a program designed to teach just enough variety to learn the basics of dance.
The ASSOCIATE BRONZE Program is a good all-around variety Dance Program that teaches the basic dances.
The BRONZE MEDAL Program is planned for those who want to become good all around dancers in all of today‟s popular dances.
The SILVER MEDAL Program may be compared to a higher scholastic education and is prepared for those students who have set their sights on higher dance goals. It encompasses more advanced patterns and styles in ballroom dances.
The GOLD MEDAL Program is comparable to the „university‟ level of dancing and is designed for those students who wish to excel in or pursue dancing at the advanced level.

GUESTS
Our studio periodically holds Guest parties at which you may bring your friends or family
to show them what you are learning. You may earn FREE lessons when your guest enrolls in a dance program.
